Are you ready for the Summit Challenge 2026!?

Phurenje Sherpa who is a Summit Challege Ambassador, a Trustee with the Himalyan trust and a mountain lover (like the rest of us!) is here to warm you up for the challenge this March!

Phurenje will share the story behind the Himalayan Trust and what Summit Challenge is all about, followed by a Q&A for all those pre-challenge questions! It's a great chance for you to meet other people taking part in the challenge and to get a sneak peek into the Scavenger Hunt that the FF team will have out in the Port Hills sometime during the challenge month... 👀

Phurenje Sherpa

Phurenje Sherpa:

A Summit Challenge ambassador multiple times over, Phurenje brings a unique perspective to the event. Born and raised in Solukhumbu, he attended Khari Khola School - one of the many facilities built by Sir Ed. After a career as a mountain guide at Aoraki Mt Cook, he immigrated to New Zealand over 25 years ago but has remained closely connected to home.
Now a Trustee with the Himalayan Trust, Phurenje bridges Nepali and Kiwi perspectives, championing projects that expand educational, healthcare, and transport opportunities for the next generation in Khumbu. He's the perfect person to share why Summit Challenge matters - and what it means for the communities it supports.
The Himalayan Trust's 'Summit Challenge' is not only an EPIC and fun challenge for you, your friends or even a work group (we have a Further Faster team!) this March, it's also a way to help fundraise for and support small rural communities in Nepal.

You can choose from four different 'vertical goals' from 2860M (Which is the elevation of Lukla the "Gateway" to Mt Everest) all the way to 25,225M (Which is the vertical elevation of 'The Triple Crown,' which is the elevation of Mount EverestLhotse, and Nuptse).
