Overview

This high performance, easy to use cleaner has been specifically designed for your hydrophobic and regular down items. As well as effectively cleaning, it also restores water repellency and maintains the fill power and insulation.

Care

Machine Washing

  • Use neat Down Wash Direct to treat stubborn stains before washing

  • Remove all non-washable parts

  • Shake well before use

  • Follow care label instructions

  • Do not use conventional detergents

  • Remove all detergent build-up from the detergent dispenser

  • Place maximum 2 items in washing machine

  • Add 100 ml. of Bikwax Down Wash Direct

  • Wash according to care label, preferably on low setting and slow spin

  • After the washing cycle has finished, run multiple spin cycles, each time incrementally increasing the spin speed, to remove excess water. (Hand wash sleeping bags or wash in a professional machine)

Hand washing

  • Sleeping bags and very large jackets are best hand washed in a bath or equivalent and then spin dried in a washing machine

  • Use neat Nikwax Down Wash Direct to treat stubborn stains before washing

  • Remove all non-washable parts

  • Shake well before use

  • Follow care label instructions

  • Do not use conventional detergents

  • Hand Wash (use gloves): Add 100 ml to 12-15 L of hand-hot water

  • Immerse item and agitate to mix, ensuring complete wetting

  • Leave to soak for 5-10 minutes, then agitate thoroughly

  • Rinse thoroughly until water runs clear

  • To remove excess water transfer item(s) to a washing machine and run multiple spin cycles, each time incrementally increasing the spin speed

  • If you intend to re-waterproof the washed item there is no need to dry it first

Drying

  • Wet down is heavy, so it is important to use the right wash cycle to ensure no damage occurs to your machine or your down items. A gentle cycle with a slow spin is recommended

  • After washing it is important that down items are thoroughly rinsed and very thoroughly dried. Even if you treat your items by hand, spin drying is recommended using a slow spin to get the maximum amount of water out of your down

  • It's best to spin dry multiple times, each time incrementally increasing the speed of the spin cycle. If items are spun too quickly while still holding a large amount of water it is possible that internal baffles may be broken

  • Tumble drying is recommended to ensure that the down is dried thoroughly and as quickly as possible. Leaving down wet or damp can ruin it completely. Ensure that there is sufficient room in the tumble drier to house the item once dry, as items will return to their original size during the drying process. Teasing apart clumps repeatedly during the drying process will help restore loft to the down

  • After tumble drying it is recommended to air item(s) for at least a day in a warm and dry space, prior to packing away

  • NEW ZEALAND DELIVERY (excluding boats)...

    • For all NZ orders we use Post Haste Couriers.
    • All local orders over NZD $100 are shipped free using a standard service.
    • All local orders under NZD $100 are charged a flat fee of NZD $6 and ship using a standard service.
    • Allow 4 business days for standard South Island shipping and 5 business days for the North Island.
    • Rural Address and PO box numbers please add business 2 days.
    • Once your item has been dispatched you will receive an email with tracking information.
    • Once it has left the store it is at the mercy of the couriers. Please check your tracking information and contact the couriers if it has not arrived when expected.

     

     PICK UP/CLICK & COLLECT: 

    We offer an in-store pick up service. This is contactless, please order online and choose Pick-Up. You will be notified when your order is ready for collection. Please visit the shop 57a Buchan St Sydenham Christchurch during opening hours for collection.

     

    WHERE IS MY ORDER: 

    Once your order has been shipped you will receive a Shipment Order Email. This will have a link to your tracking details, you can use this link to find the location of your parcel and contact the courier company to see how far away it is.

    If you have not received a confirmation email within 24hrs, please check your junk box in your email, as some times we need to get in touch with you and emails do happen to end up in there!

    Alternatively, speak to our order guru 'Bot-Bruce', and he can find the tracking details for you in the chat section of this pop-up. Just ask him, 'Where is my order?' and follow the prompts 🐻.

     

    HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?

    Allow 4 business days for standard South Island shipping and 5 business days for the North Island.

    Rural Address and PO Boxes, please add 2 more days.

    We try our best to get your orders out to you ASAP, however, during our peak times (Christmas, Sale week etc), we may need an extra day to process them.

    These estimates are for a perfect world when courier companies work on time and natural disasters and pandemics are at bay. Once it has left the shop it is sometimes up to the shipping gods!

     

    CAN I CHANGE MY ADDRESS AFTER I ORDER?

    We can’t change addresses in the system once your order has been placed, however, send an email to support@furtherfaster.reamaze.com or call us in-store and we will endeavour to change the address. Please let us know before order cut off at 1pm daily.

     

    INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY (AUSTRALIA, USA)

    • All Australian orders are charged a flat fee of NZD $35 and are shipped using a standard service (not including boats).
    • All North American orders are charged a flat fee of NZD $90 and are shipped using a standard service (not including boats).
    • Standard delivery times for international orders can vary from 5 business days to 6 weeks.
    • Once your item has been dispatched you will receive an email with tracking information.
    • International orders do not come with a signature delivery confirmation.
    • Please do not buy products with eggs or bacon, as international customs do not like this and your order may be confiscated at your own cost (no one wants wasted bacon and eggs!)

    SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS

    • A limited number of Montane items are shipped from the UK warehouse and delivery can take up to 14 business days from order placement
    • All Ruffwear is shipped from our Christchurch store and usually leaves the same or next day. If for some reason we don't have the item you ordered we will notify you the day you order and let you know when you can expect delivery. Special order for non stocked items are usually 2 weeks.

    BOATS

    • Shipping for white water kayaks starts at $99. Shipping can be arranged for all other boats, kayaks and canoes. Please contact the store for details and cost.
