Morakniv 106 Woodcarving Knife - 82mm
A woodcarving knife with superior toughness and edge resiliency
This is an alternative woodcarving knife, great for those who want to start carving.
With a barrel-shaped, oiled Scandinavian FSC® certified birch wood handle and an approximately 2.5 mm thick and 82 mm long, tapered carbon steel blade, you’re ready.
The knife blades are polished and have a laser engraved logo, which differs from the laminated carbon steel blade.
With a barrel-shaped oiled Scandinavian FSC® certified birch wood handle and an approximately 2.5 mm thick, tapered carbon steel blade, you can take your creativity to new levels.
The knife’s full rat tail tang, which runs through the entire handle, provides both strength and stability in each cut and the handle gives you the opportunity to shape it to your own needs or expression.
The knife should always be in the knife sheath when not in use, partly to minimise the risk of cutting injury but also to maintain sharpness.
Carbon steel rusts, so wipe and oil the blade after use. The characteristic woodcarving knives are highly regarded around the world and are well known for their excellent sharpness and high quality, not least because they are used by skilled craftsmen in Nusnäs, where one of Sweden’s most famous national symbols, the Dala horse, is made.

Carbon Steel
This steel grade is very popular among newcomers to woodcarving, shortened to (C).
The knife blades are polished and have a laser engraved logo, which differs from the laminated carbon steel blade.
Carbon steel knife blades are hardened to Rockwell scale, HRC 58-60 and provide the highest possible sharpness. The steel is easy to sharpen but requires more maintenance when exposed to corrosive environments. Make sure to keep the blade clean and dry.
Our carbon steel has a carbon content of 1%.
Laminated carbon steel
This steel grade is unique for knives from Morakniv and is a legendary steel for woodcarvers, shortened to (LC).
The core of the blade is made of high carbon steel surrounded by a softer alloyed steel layer. The knife blades from 2023 are polished and have a logo stamp, which differs from the earlier knives made before, when they weren’t polished.
The ones manufactured up until 2023 can sometimes be found to have a knotty or unfinished blade surface. It comes from the rollers in the rolling mill where the laminate steel is fused.
The polished surface adds protection from corrosion.
We love differences
We are now strengthening the ties to nature and making sure to expand the variety of oiled birch used for the handle. They can thus be a little darker, lighter, clearer fiber directions or of another beautiful difference. This does not affect the quality in any way but rather gives the craft knives a more personal grip.

QUESTIONS?
If you'd like to know availability and delivery times for a specific item please contact us and we will aim to get back to you the same day within business hours.
If you're looking at this knife, you probably already know the use and purpose of such a knife. It's a flat beveled craft knife for the "slöjd" traditional woodcrafts. The Mora 120 is the shorter version, but this is only a bit longer and I would say more useful -- the long slender bevel near the tip is useful for turns -- or get both?
Suggest checking out the local craft groups, classes and Zed Outdoors on YouTube who has a whole raft of instructional videos. The Mora hook-knife isn't so good, suggest going for the "Woodtools" compound curve to start.
