La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoes
Suitable for technical approach routes and vie ferrate thanks to the extra-grip sole and the toe designed specifically for crag climbing.
The ultra sticky Vibram sole with climbing zone make this model the ideal choice for technical approach routes and via ferrate. The new and improved sole design provides even greater grip while climbing and the Impact Brake System offers enhanced braking power for descent routes. The soft 2mm EVA insert guarantees optimum anti shock properties.
The full rubber rand offers maximum protection against abrasion while climbing. The patented Asymmetric lacing system derives from the Mythos climbing shoe project.

After 11 years my old La Sportiva friends had given up their sole and were getting due for retirement(traction had gone and I could hardly walk on a slope without slipping) Thankfully I got in contact with good people at Furtherfaster and they soon had me in a new pair of Bolulder x approach shoes. Glad to say they arrived and were stupidly comfortable straight out of the box, took them on a 4hour wander in the hills and no blisters or uncomfortable spots. Yes they are not waterproof but they will definitely take you places. Here's hoping this pair manages another 10 years! Thanks again to the awesome team at Furtherfaster!
Newest pair of Sportivas are even more comfy than my old pair.
Needed a pair of robust walking shoes after losing faith in my Keens. Further Faster crew provided excellent, non-pushy advice from the staff. Impressed and very happy with my new La Sportiva Boulder X shoes after a couple of long walks in the hills. Will be my brand of choice when next needing shoes or boots.
The shoe is very comfortable, however is not waterproof - this is not something that is promised - so no fault of the brand or the shop.
However selling (or even producing) an approach shoe that is not water proof boggles the mind. Especially in a place such as New Zealand. I can't remember the last time I was out in the bush and did not encounter a puddle or some mud. These incredibly comfortable and sturdy shoes are not just not waterproof they are pretty much sponges.
I realise I should have done at least a little bit of research and read the label - but I just don't understand these shoes.
