Megajul to back you up

I love my Megajul. What I especially love is being backed up for abseil. No need to muck around with a prussik loop. It is great for belaying too but takes a little while to get used to the extra drag and the inclination to lock when paying out slack fast. You need to keep a loose pile of slack at your feet to avoid starving the leader of rope just as they clip. It is also quite sensitive to variations in rope diameter. It works best with about 9 to 10mm rope and old lumpy ropes are bad.
