Free-movement harness system, fully customizable fit and Balance System, the popular Featherlite Freedom has it all! Sore shoulders and painful back will become a memory from the past, even on the longest trails. You can be sure that you will be looking forward to putting your pack on.  

The 10L Aarn Balance Pockets Sport are included with the pack for instant gear access, increased agility and energy-efficiency. The pockets will counterbalance the load carried on your back so you may not even feel like you’re carrying all that gear!

U-Flow Shoulder Harness:   
  • U-Flow shoulder straps allow free shoulder movement while ensuring optimal pack stability, reducing fatigue buildup, and increasing your balance.    
  • Breathable stretch 3D mesh that auto-moulds to the natural slope of your shoulders.        
  • Back length adjustable while wearing the pack for a dialed-in fit.  
Dynamic Pelvic-Form Hip belt:   
  • Dual-adjust hip belt tensioning system allows for fine-tuning of the hip belt.    
  • Hip belt angle is micro-adjustable to allow a perfect match to your pelvic shape.     
  • U-Flow system ensures that the hip belt follows the natural movements of your hips. The hip belt is held by a central point to the main body of the pack, allowing the hip belt to both rotate side to side with the hip movement and pivot forward, away from the bottom of the pack. This increases your balance and agility and reduces the accumulation of fatigue on your body.    
  • The structure of the hip belt ensures an optimum load transfer towards the hips to lessen the pressure on the shoulders.    
  • The breathable 3D mesh used on the upper part of the hip belt wraps perfectly over the top of your iliac crest, offering superior comfort and support for long hours on the move.    
  • Quick-release buckle allows you to easily unclip the belt with one hand.    
  • Attachment points for interchangeable Balance Pockets.

How to fit Aarn Pockets onto an Aarn Packs

NEW ZEALAND DELIVERY

For delivery of orders within New Zealand, excluding boats and oversized items:

  • All local orders NZD $199 and over are shipped free using a standard signature-required service.
  • All local orders under NZD $199 are charged a flat fee of NZD $10 and are shipped using standard signature-required service.
  • We mostly use Post Haste Couriers as our courier service
  • Allow 1-2 business days for standard South Island shipping and 2-3 business days for the North Island.
  • Rural Address and PO box numbers please add business 2 days.
  • Once your order has been dispatched you will receive an email with tracking information.
  • Once your order has left the store it is at the mercy of the couriers. Please check your tracking information and contact the couriers if it has not arrived when expected.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?

  • Allow 1-2 business days for standard South Island shipping and 2-3 business days for the North Island.
  • Rural Address and PO Boxes, please add 2 more days.
  • We try our best to get your orders out to you ASAP, however, during our peak times (Christmas, Sale week etc), we may need an extra day to process them.
  • These estimates are for a perfect world when courier companies work on time and natural disasters and pandemics are at bay. Once it has left the shop it is sometimes up to the shipping gods!

CAN I CHANGE MY ADDRESS AFTER I ORDER?

  • We can’t change addresses in the system once your order has been placed, however, send an email to hello@furtherfaster.co.nz or call us in-store and we will endeavour to change the address.

  • We offer an in-store pick up service.
  • This is contactless, please order online and choose Pick-Up.

WHERE IS MY ORDER: 

  • Once your order has been shipped you will receive a Shipment Order Email. This will have a link to your tracking details, you can use this link to find the location of your parcel and contact the courier company to see how far away it is.
  • If you have not received a confirmation email within 24hrs, please check your junk box in your email, as some times we need to get in touch with you and emails do happen to end up in there!
  • Alternatively, speak to our order guru 'Bot-Bruce', and he can find the tracking details for you in the chat section of this pop-up. Just ask him, 'Where is my order?' and follow the prompts 🐻.

 

INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY (AUSTRALIA, USA)

  • All Australian orders are charged a flat fee of NZD $35 and are shipped using a standard service (not including boats or paddles).  Paddles are NZD $125 for 2 and 4 piece paddles and NZD $195 for 1 piece paddles.
  • All North American orders are charged a flat fee of NZD $90 and are shipped using a standard service (not including boats or paddles).
  • Standard delivery times for international orders can vary from 5 business days to 6 weeks.
  • Once your item has been dispatched you will receive an email with tracking information.
  • International orders do not come with a signature delivery confirmation.
  • Please do not buy products with eggs or bacon, as international customs do not like this and your order may be confiscated at your own cost (no one wants wasted bacon and eggs!)
  • NZ GST: For international orders New Zealand sales tax (GST) is not included in the price. However the price shown on the website is the price to be paid regardless of the country to be shipped to. 

SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS

  • All orders are shipped from our Christchurch store and usually leave the next working day. If for some reason we don't have the item you ordered we will notify you as soon as possible and let you know when you can expect delivery. Special order for non stocked items vary however are usually 2-6 weeks.

BOATS
Need your boat shipped? No problem! 

Shipping is excluded at time of purchase. The team will calculate this separately after your purchase and contact you with the best rates at the time.

As a cost indication shipping typically starts at $99 for smaller boats and $150 for longer, larger boats. Cost will also vary depending on where in NZ needs to go.

Boats are delivered to your nearest Mainfreight Depot for you to collect from there.

I love my new aarn pack!

The difference between a traditional tramping pack and the aarn is like day and night! The pack itself is a lot lighter to begin with plus having the weight balanced between front and back means you can walk upright, allowing for normal walking and hip position. I was always walking unnaturally and rolling my ankles. Plus, I'm quite short at 155cm and a tall pack used to press at the back of my head. The aarn is shorter so now I can look around and look up if I want! The sewn in pack liners kept everything dry and the things you need including your scroggin are within easy reach in the front pouches. It's like carrying a day pack! Wouldn't go back!

Improved features

After using my old Featherlight Freedom for a number of years, I was pleased to see the following improvements in my new one - better padding on the straps, elasticated tops on the outside pockets and getting rid of the divider in the main pack. I have only used the new pack for two multi-day hikes so still need to make adjustments to reduce the amount of sideways movement when fully loaded.
I am still a great fan of the front balance pockets where there is enough room to store all that I need during the day e.g. food, first aid kit, PLB etc.

The Aarn Featherlite Freedom Pack falls just short of perfection, missing the fifth star due to some seams showing signs of wear after only four days of use. However, it is an absolutely great pack with a uniquely clever design. I particularly appreciate the accessibility of the balance pockets while hiking, which adds to its convenience. Additionally, the pack's lightweight nature makes it a joy to carry. Overall, it's a fantastic choice for hikers looking for innovative features and comfort.
