Minimus Smock Review

Minimus Smock Review

Hi, I want to run through and talk to you about the Montane Minimus Smock. This smock is a fully taped, super light waterproof jacket made form Pertex Shield+ fabric. It weighs in at a incredible 143grams for a size Med and packs down into its own little bag .

It was originally designed for adventure runners who needed a fully waterproof jacket that had to be as light possible without sacrificing functionality. Its has one kangaroo zip pocket with a water restraint zipper which will  fit a map or  course notes in it.

It has lycra bound cuffs and hood for a nice, tight comfy fit and won't bash around in the wind like some hoods do.

The Pertex Shield+ fabric has a hydrostatic head of 20000mm and a breathability of 25.000g(m2)/24hrs which means in normal speak that its fully waterproof and breathes well for a lightweight waterproof. In terms of wear and tear I have been using the full zip jacket version for 3 years and its still going strong. Its aimed at fast and light activities and not full day backpacking trips so, in terms of wearing a pack with it I would recommend light running packs and avoid heavy backpacking style packs.

So there we are, if you are after a jacket that needs to be both super light and waterproof take a look at the Minimus Smock; its a great bit of kit . Below is the Video Review.
